Video documentation of the manufacture of a pre-Columbian mask with 2000 coins of US cents. This work is part of the installation of the same name, Latitude 0 ° 0 '0 "refers to the hegemonic economic relations between the United States and South America taking the case of the economy of Ecuador, dollarized since 2000 due to a deep crisis. The mask is a copy of the “Sol de la Tolita”, originally made in gold and used as a symbol of divine power in the pre-Columbian community of La Tolita. Today this same mask is the logo of the Central Bank of Ecuador. From the year 2000, Ecuador began to use the US Dollar as national currency as a result of social distrust in the national monetary system, I see in this process of dollarization a metaphor of loss of our national identity and memory. Latitude 0 ° 0 '0 "reflect on the economic relations between USA and South America, through the creation of a pre-Columbian mask with cents.
