This series of works is based on the need to show my gratitude towards those artists who have made me feel an aesthetic experience when contemplating their work. I hope to transmit to the viewer my emotion for these creators. This work belongs to the series: Tribute to Artists and is intended to be a small tribute to the work of the painter and sculptor Richard Serra. With a pretended austerity of materials, each painting shows a composition that tries to recreate the aesthetic universe and the main color palette of each artist honored. It is made with small pieces of colored wood and cut out of 2 cm raw gray cardboard. It is a minimalist work and is framed with a black frame.

"Every true work is born of what Kandinski called inner necessity. Just as the raw material of literature is words, memory and imagination; the raw material of painting is shapes, colors and matter. Since I began my visual work, I have felt, whatever the parameters in which I moved, that my paintings were born and are born of that inner need. A need that leads us to find, because strictly speaking that is what happens in the practice of painting. The creator does not seek, he finds. At most, in his inquiry, he knows what he is not, what he is, appears to him in that inescapable process of the creative act. Before, it was the schematic landscapes; then, the mineral microworld of stones and rocks, later the search for the harmony of the plane without color, now, for the last two years, the investigation in the basic and modular structures using for it the baric tablets that the Italian pedagogue Maria Montesori created for her pedagogical system. Always on raw gray cardboard and in square format, two are the investigations that I am carrying out at present. One of them is about the sensations produced by the piano pieces of the Korean composer HyeRyun Jung. The other are homages to contemporary painters." Antonio Ventura Fernández was born in Madrid in 1954. From then until the present, he has made more than thirty solo exhibitions and participated in a hundred group exhibitions and plastic competitions.
