ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting began as a portrait of the author Stephen Crane. It then evolved into an abstract figurative expression and then I covered it in torn paper and strips of black vinyl. I was inspired by the Collage Paintings of Lee Krasner that I saw at Kasmin Gallery.

A live model sat for most pieces, however I have chosen to omit or minimize specificity, likeness, and personality allowing impression to take precedence.
