ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Poem ( in first person singular. Best read in English) Here I chose to describe the hood from which I grew A place from which I made my life's debut Back then I had no crew or any clue That I would get to meet some of you Creating a diary of paintings with my art As a form of storytelling from my heart To keep track of all the years apart Like the little details of a map or a chart There are things I learnt from the hood, I'll render It taught me even while slender not to surrender But Why would I surrender when I can be a contender If everybody is a sinner, everybody can be a winner It gave me a voice, and set a goal to achieve That I've got one voice to give and one life to live To Stand up for something, something I believe Even though later I had to leave to reprieve A painting that draws both the artist and viewers back in time Most especially the artist, which is sublime A painting intended to preserve and document a story Of how it was when I went to Bereton Montessori.
