ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting belongs to a series of 5 pieces entitled "Il Sole è cieco", ie "The Sun is blind". Here we can see two characters who are held in the arms of each other on a rather dark background. No visible face, just two heads which seem both linked and separated by a sheet of stone. This mineral shell which covers the faces is a barrier at the same time as a tie. It prevents seeing, it puts a distance. The title "Non Temere" means "do not be af raid" in Italian: an invitation to break this draped stone matrix to let love regain its rights and express itself freely. This work is also a distant echo of Magritte's "Lovers", except that here the lovers are naked. This painting is a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas. It combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting, with squares made in relief on the surface of the canvas. The painting is framed in black wood (total dimensions : approx. 105 x 105 x 3,5 cm).

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
