ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The deformed shapes of the frame attract my attention. We see that these squares, which represent screens in my world, can explain squareness only from their own perspective. Each of them is shaped only by their subjective judgments. Thus, the values presented as reality – with the parasite of the subjective – can only show so much of the cornered square that is considered the correct square. Just as the gray, scratchy noise that appeared on TV screens in the past interrupting the content, maybe tried to remind us: Even though the ‘’resolution’’ we increase on our screens reflects the content smoothly, the screen we are exposed to can only exist with the parasite of the subjective. In this technique that I discovered, I make the resin hardened in a certain way to get this wrinkle effect and then color it afterward.

Art has always been a part of my life, even during my time as a sociology student. I deeply enjoyed studying sociology and urban studies, where I completed my master’s degree, but creating art was always a necessity for me. During these years, I took painting classes from various artists in Istanbul. In 2020, I began selling my artwork for the first time under the name "Kara Vox," and I quickly became captivated by the ability to connect with others through art. From 2014 to 2019, I was actively involved in the field of forced migration, both academically and as a volunteer. I can now see how this experience has influenced my art. In my master’s thesis, I explored 'uncertainty,' particularly within the context of refugee journeys. This theme has extended into my art, specifically in my recent exclusive works, where I express 'uncertainty' through the ambiguity of light beams, symbolizing the fluid and shifting nature of reality. While I enjoy creating limited and continuous series of artworks under the name 'Kara Vox' in my studio, which allows me to reach hundreds of collectors at affordable prices, I am now focused on producing one-of-a-kind pieces using a technique I developed specifically for my exclusive works, which feature my personal signature.
