This winter, I embroidered pearls on my still life paintings. I painted the subjects in acrylics in my usual style, simple lines and bold colours, then i embroidered them with Miyuki beads. They are Japanese glass beads known for their high quality, brilliance and long-lasting colours. The reason why I decided to embroider my still life paintings with Miyuki beads is to encourage the viewers to embrace all the different parts of their soul, the ones that they like as well as those that they don't like. Just like these different beads, these different parts form a unique, beautiful soul.

Jovanitha Le Long (b. 1985) is a self-taught artist currently living in France. She believes that we are our happiest when we are our truest. That's how, in 2020, she left her job as a lawyer to become a full time artist. Art brought her the freedom to be her true authentic self, after masking most of her adult life, to hide her Asperger's syndrome. She paints mainly still life aka food. Her style can be described as weird and fun. Her expressive compositions consist of simple lines and bold colours, outlined in black. She uses only pure colours, no mixing. Le Long strives to capture the essence of the subject matter until it results in a living harmony of colours. Jovanitha paints to break the ruminating loop of thoughts and to experience stillness. She draws inspiration from her daily life and all the things that make her happy. She has been featured in multiple blogs and publications, including The Purposeful Mayonnaise, Art Feeds Souls, Create Magazine and Arts to Hearts Magazine. Her work has been exhibited internationally, in Philadelphia, London, New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. She lives in an unknown village in the north of France with her handsome husband, their little boy and teenage girl, three adorable cats and hopefully a dog in the near future!
