ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In "Portraits of an Endless Quarantine," Zoe Lunar captures the essence of suspended time and fragmented reality. The central image depicts a woman sitting, absorbed in her cellphone, with multiple faces overlapping and emerging from her figure. This dreamlike representation reflects the multiplicity of emotions and experiences characterizing an endless quarantine. The intertwined faces symbolize the incessant flow of thoughts and feelings, each an echo of past and future moments that blur into the present. The woman, trapped in a perpetual cycle of isolation, becomes a living metaphor for time that stretches and folds upon itself, blurring the line between the real and the virtual. The cellphone in her hands is both a window to the outside world and a digital prison that traps the mind in monotonous repetition. Zoe Lunar's technique, with its attention to detail and fluid strokes, immerses us in a deep exploration of how reality can distort under the pressure of prolonged isolation. "Portraits of an Endless Quarantine" invites us to reflect on the nature of time and reality in a world where days blur together and identities fade and reappear on a device's screen. It is a visual testament to human resilience and fragility, a mirror that reflects our own image distorted by loneliness and uncertainty.

Zoe Lunar radiates and works in Mexico City, is a graduate of the national school of painting, sculpture and engraving "La Esmeralda". He is an artist in constant formation, who seeks plastic, visual and sound experimentation. His work feeds on time as matter and how it helps to interpret reality, through temporal representations, of spaces that converge in their social context and how this influences the formation and interpretation of our different contemporary realities; making use of the qualities of painting and drawing to make deformations in a perceptive portrait of different moments, and personal times in a single interpretation. He is currently nurturing his plastic work especially in painting and drawing, giving him new outlets like AR in some of his new works and occasionally making music and video.
