ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A long, narrow painting format has interested me for some time. I enjoy creating them because the skinny ratio presents a creative challenge, which I love. My mission with this painting was to create an experience of color and texture that resonates with vibrational energy and a sense of movement. I want to breathe life into the usual abstract impressions of landscapes. The idea is to evoke a sense of time. This painting was created on archival art-board using only the highest quality acrylic paints and has been varnished for UV and dust protection. "Rhythm of Passage" is professionally mounted and float framed in an elegant custom black frame without glass. Ready to install, it can be hung either horizontally or vertically, whichever suits the room.

Expressing Nature's Energy with Color & Texture Shirley Williams is a Canadian artist living and working near the US border, best known for her abstract paintings focused on layered color and tactile texture. Color and texture convey emotion at a subconscious level. Shirley Williams paintings combines these two elements to evoke associations with the energy of landscape and nature. Nature alters our consciousness and lift our spirits. In the same way that being in nature energizes us, her intention is to express this subtle energy boost through paint. Shirley Williams grew up moving often across Canada and Europe, inspired by art in every city. She worked in Toronto for many years as a documentary film producer until 1991 when she began painting full time. Her paintings have been exhibited and collected widely in both Canada and the US.
