About The Artwork

SCARRED Size: 23.4 x 33.1in Limited Edition of 1 signed certificate of authenticity included. Medium sized artwork, printed on canvas. Ships in a tube. "Scarred" is a piece that aims to enlighten people's perception on self-harming and mental health, in general. I come from a place where mental illness could easily be misinterpretted as withcraft, or something spiritual. The topic of mental health has a long way to go, and I chose to use this piece as my own little way of shedding light to the topic. "People self-harm because they hear voices and feel they’re going insane. When you self-harm and see blood, it is like a validation that you’re still alive." This piece was displayed at the UN HQ as one of the artworks exhibited for their mental health and well-being strategy program, 2018. In the same year, it was also exhibited at the Neem foundation Art & Mind exhibition, Abuja.
