ABOUT THE ARTWORK
My series of birds was inspired by my late father, Arturo Mercado, who was also a painter. After studying a painting of a scissor tail that he completed, I created a scissor tail piece to honor my father — this paved the way to a new direction for my work. My work consists of various mediums on wood. My images are simplistic, and I enjoy the texture and rustic feel the wood gives my work.
