Solid Gold Disc-o Artwork

Music drives my work. Music is what kept me company as a child, and still keeps me company - I can laugh with it, cry to it, sing along with it and it sticks with me long after the song is over. Remembering the remnants of the music and how they make me feel is central to my work. Solid Gold Disc-O is created out of new and repurposed beads and recycled jewelry. Deconstructing jewelry and mementos that have been used up and discarded is a physical manifestation of that musical remembrance. I am drawn to the haunting nature of these objects long since abandoned. It is tremendously meaningful to me that the items I use in my mixed media constructions are reclaimed and revived after having been long left behind. Dismantling old junk and jewelry and repurposing them in my studio gives new life to these once forgotten mementos.. creating imagery that is meaningful to us a collective whole.
