ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Miniature pieces were commonplace in the Quitenian school of art during colonial times, where Quitenian art held significant importance. In paying homage to this tradition, I have created my own miniature pieces, suitable for hanging on narrow walls when framed. This collection of digital trees draws inspiration from my late grandmother, who invested in a small piece of land on the coast, envisioning it as a future destination for us. I invite viewers to contemplate time, acknowledging its swifter passage for humans than for trees. The collection is designed to be miniature, allowing for arrangement in small frames to adorn a white wall. I opted for the digital medium because it best captures the kind, happy, generous, energetic, and powerful spirit of my late grandmother. Keep in mind that this is a miniature piece—a digital work that will be printed on matte paper for you to fully appreciate. It comes unframed, and I recommend framing it for display. Hardware is not included.

An Ecuadorian artist, navigates the local artistic landscape with a distinctive approach, diverging from the typical dichotomy prevalent among Quitenian artists. Rather than aligning with the bohemian left or the elite, art-educated right, Angela embraces her identity as an ambitious Quitenian with a down-to-earth perspective. Balancing her artistic pursuits with a middle-class sensibility, Angela introduces a unique voice in the narrative of Ecuador's art scene. She modestly considers herself a sui generis expressionist, influenced by her early exposure to art through her mother, Angie, and the captivating oil-painting sessions with her aunt-in-law, the esteemed artist Micaela Almeida.Angela's artistic journey began with humble doodles of flowers, symbolizing intimacy and family bonds. Her style, marked by an indiscriminate use of colors, reflects her innate creativity. Turning to digital mediums for expression, she reserves traditional materials for moments of artistic freedom. Angela, embracing vulnerability, desires a return to the simplicity of white canvases. She discreetly embeds messages in her art, inviting viewers to discover joy in nature scenes, and showcasing Quitenian humor with humility and depth.
