ABOUT THE ARTWORK

TH Recto is a female nude that almost disappears behind its fragmentation into hundreds of small squares, like an ongoing explosion where the body has been shredded into particles about to spread through space. It is a very technical artwork, since the deconstruction is first done manually on the computer, square by square, before being taken up again in relief in acrylic on about 200 squares which come out of the canvas and then catch the light, making the painting very dynamic and vibrant depending on the lighting and the viewer's position, with a fairly marked 3D effect. This painting is a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas. It combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glazes and more than 200 blue, green and transparent squares in relief). It is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 87 x 60 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
