This painting is part of my serie about globalisation of culture and human psychology : native people art, india ink, golden leaf both to reveal the message and to express the vanity of humanity. In an effort to make perceptible the mankind in everyone everywhere anytime. Anywhere on earth rigth now and from the very first time of humanity This funny tale would have been inspired to Lafontaine by Esope, a poet who lived seven centuries BC. The Hare and the Turtle There is no point in running; you have to start right. The Hare and the Turtle are a testimony. let's bet, said this one, that you will not reach As soon as I do. - Soon? Are you wise? said moreover the confident animal. My gossip, you must purge With four grains of Hellebore . - Wise or not, I still bet. Thus was done: and of both The stakes were close: Knowing what is not the case, Nor of which judge we invite. Our Hare had only four steps to go; I hear from some people he does when ready to be reached He walks away from the dogs, sends them back to the Calendes, And make them roam the moors. Having, I said, time left to graze, To sleep, and to listen Where the wind comes from, it leaves the Turtle Go by a steady but relaxed pace It leaves, it strives; She hastens with slowness. Yet he despises such a victory, Holds the wager for such a little glory, Believes it is his honor To leave late. He grazes, he rests, He plays with everything else Only to the challenge. In the end when he saw That the other was almost at the end of the race. He left like a stroke; but the impulses he made The Turtle came first. Well! she shouted, was I not right? What good is your speed? Me, take it! and what would it be What if you were wearing a house? Jean de Lafontaine (1621-1695)
