About The Artwork

"Virtual Reality" offers several readings. One relates to the painting itself: it is an artificial composition, a virtual reality in the full sense of the term, since the model that we see on the canvas, covered with a graffiti on a damaged material, seems probable (it is the photographic aspect) while being a pure invention (it does not exist). Another reading takes to the character: with her eyes blindfolded by what looks like virtual reality glasses, this woman no longer sees the reality that surrounds her, she is in her own world, a purely mental universe. The mask over her eyes hides her and at the same time plunges her into a parallel, virtual existence. Our future? This painting is a unique piece made in mixed technique on canvas and combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (many layers of transparent glaze and raised square). The painting is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 66 x 46 x 3,5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
