About The Artwork

Thrust into an ensemble like players on a stage, the figures are extracted from their environments and abstracted in form such that each character must negotiate their new space, forming new relationships. This image started as cropped photographs that were sampled and reassembled as discreet, 2D vector shapes using homemade, generative software.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

A native of California now living and working in Oakland, Scott Frankel works in a variety of media ranging from oils and watercolors to generative digital synthesis and alternative photographic processes. A former fine arts filmmaker with a career pursued in film, Scott is a member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Association for Computing Machinery. The most pronounced unifying thread in his work is the pursuit of processes that are largely uncontrollable. Wet on wet watercolors run where they will; gum bichromate prints attain lustrous depth after a dozen or more layers; long exposure pinhole cameras capture what they please; and generative 3D processes take days of processing to reveal their uncanny, synthetic imagery. Each forces a dialogue that demands focused attention, the process requiring process to steer. Scott's work has been collected both privately and by corporations, with a 12 piece commission recently completed for a national financial institution.
