What I consciously focus on is not the "external things," but the "present." My creative process begins by redirecting my attention, which is often drawn to extreme external events, back to myself, here and now. This is in line with the Zen concept of "looking at one's own feet." The reason I find a connection between footprints and stars is because I move away from the modern scientific view that recognizes stars as something external, and instead perceive them subjectively as micro points within myself.
