About The Artwork

This collection of digital trees is a tribute to my late grandmother, a woman who collected small treasures on a piece of land she hoped to visit after a lifetime of hard work. While she never realized this dream, I visited the place long after her passing. As a child working on a tree drawing, she prophesied that I would become a great artist. I aim for viewers to sense a connection with life itself, their roots, and their families, even when physically apart. Reflecting on the passage of time, faster for humans than trees, and the enduring transmission of emotions even in absence, is my invitation to contemplation. Designed to be miniature, this collection can be arranged in small frames, adding a decorative touch to white walls. I opted for the digital medium as it vividly expresses the kind, happy, generous, energetic, and powerful spirit of my late grandmother. Keep in mind that this is a miniature piece—a digital work that will be printed on matte paper for you to fully appreciate. It comes unframed, and I recommend framing it for display. Hardware is not included.

An Ecuadorian artist, navigates the local artistic landscape with a distinctive approach, diverging from the typical dichotomy prevalent among Quitenian artists. Rather than aligning with the bohemian left or the elite, art-educated right, Angela embraces her identity as an ambitious Quitenian with a down-to-earth perspective. Balancing her artistic pursuits with a middle-class sensibility, Angela introduces a unique voice in the narrative of Ecuador's art scene. She modestly considers herself a sui generis expressionist, influenced by her early exposure to art through her mother, Angie, and the captivating oil-painting sessions with her aunt-in-law, the esteemed artist Micaela Almeida.Angela's artistic journey began with humble doodles of flowers, symbolizing intimacy and family bonds. Her style, marked by an indiscriminate use of colors, reflects her innate creativity. Turning to digital mediums for expression, she reserves traditional materials for moments of artistic freedom. Angela, embracing vulnerability, desires a return to the simplicity of white canvases. She discreetly embeds messages in her art, inviting viewers to discover joy in nature scenes, and showcasing Quitenian humor with humility and depth.
