Art Description

New Media: Lenticular, Graphite, Digital on Plastic.

Derived from an original graphite drawing. The image was then translated into an interactive touchscreen program. This 3rd translation is a 3D "trippy" lenticular 2D work. This lenticular print presents layers of flowers and flora. The flowers surrounding a cloaked figure can be found in art history from the 16th century to the present. Through the natural beauty of flowers the universal image of a hooded individual is presented as something of beauty itself. Flower Boom evokes emotional ties to America's youth and conjures current socio-political issues surrounding the fear of "Other".
