Attention to color theory and skilled painting qualities inform these organic hi-definition forms. Twenty-five personalities were created out of the artist's imagination over several months during a creative period while building on a new large body of work called “Poetics and Pragmatism”. The project is open-ended and allows both of Holland's personalities, the artist and the engineer, to experiment freely with artistic styles and alternative materials. His imagery oscillates between realism and magical realism, representation and abstraction. These ideas are being developed in these small experimental digital paintings. "I render hi-definition images with an innovative new painting technique fit for the technological digital era. The result is abstract forms that are more organic than geometric, more curvy than linear. Their personalities flow from the shapes." Over the past five years, Holland has researched digital software programs that he now uses to optimize the stroke, texture, form, color, and shape of his images. Holland's skillful execution of painting and drawing perfectly merges traditional and digital media. The final images are high-definition C-prints. The frame is high quality, professional gallery-grade, hardwood with black satin finish.
