The aluminum profile installed on the back of the work keeps a distance of approx. 1cm from the wall. this way, the artwork gains a floating effect after fixing it to the wall. Comes with signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Also has signature of the artist on the back of the work. "FRAGILE STATE" Fragility, or quality of what is fragile, is commonly associated with physical and human condition. The definition of fragility arises also applied to the development process of the "regions", according to four main indicators of reference - political, social, economic and environmental. In this context, the term "Fragility" acquires a broader sense and refers us to other definitions such as lack of consistency, absence of consolidation and instability of places and societies. The environmental fragilities are increasingly, once we spend and destroy the resources we have. In addition, nature itself is fragile in its condition. The "FRAGILE STATE" project aims to address the theme of "environmental fragility" in its natural line, through analogies with human fragilities. The paths are not the predictable, and the choice of techniques and materials reveal subtle images, where the apparent simplicity reveals the essence of the theme. In my exploration process, I proceed to the collection and appropriation of natural elements such as stones and sand. The idea is to materialize and dematerialize the same object, with the use of hybrid means (photography and video), constructing relational images, digitally captured and manipulated. The objective is to subtly expose the fragilities of the places, in view of the urgency of activating consciousness for the new challenges that arise. "HUMAN FRAGILITY" Human fragility is something that we consciously seek to conceal and which we commonly observe in others. The society in which we live is forcing us to show strength and affirm ourselves. However, when confronted with our deepest fragility, physical or psychological, the paradigm drastically changes, we are faced with many other feelings, which intensify, such as fear and uncertainty, constantly questioning us to where we will arrive in this condition. Our gaze on the world modifies itself and focuses more on us. This state transforms us and awakens in us contradictory feelings, such as strength, courage and determination. However, fear and uncertainty persist, functioning as alerts, which more or less intermittent remind us and position us in the condition of being fragile. The feelings that come to us are mainly of faith or hope – an almost unshakable belief, in how everything will go well! Does the human equilibrium formula translate into fragility, strength and faith? - Fragility immediately refers to the natural condition of what we are, for the cycle of evolution/ degradation of things. - Strength is intrinsically associated with the human idea, its ability to solve things. - Faith or hope belongs to the level of the invisible and the immeasurable and is associated with the idea of the Divine or knowledge to overcome all situations. In the "FRAGILE STATE" series were created three sets of works alluding to fragility, strength and faith, representing the three conditions – NATURAL, HUMAN and DIVINE. Each condition is represented in three stages: I – genesis; II – evolution or metamorphosis; III – end of cycle or beginning of another.

Ana Wever (Lisbon, 1975), lives and works in Lisbon. Wever’s artistic career began in 2010 when she decided to invest in specific training at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes (SNBA), Lisbon, Portugal. She consolidated her knowledge in Painting and Contemporary Art History for over five years and currently attends the course of Experimental Atelier. Ana Wever has regularly exhibited since 2011 and is represented in institutional and private collections, national and worldwide. Her work is multidisciplinary, but with particular focus on painting and digital photography. Nature is her greatest source of inspiration (the shapes, the colors, reflections, light and shadow). Currently, the artist is developing a research and exploration work on the theme of fragility, in a broader sense, establishing analogies between the different "fragilities" of places and societies, for awareness raising and future collective consciousness. In addition to the condition present in the conception of her work, she seeks for simplicity and sophistication (in the sense of extreme subtlety) – of what she considers to be, the “Essence” of the theme.
