LIGHTNING ARRESTER - PERFORMANCE- MARCH 2019 The expansion of the pictorial space is a good that must be carefully protected. In this work, the artist has imagined a device that makes it possible to link his bodily action to the contextual space. Inspired by lightning protection circuits, he used the match object to attract lightning, using it as an extension of his own illuminated body, and as a candelabra to celebrate the ritualization of his act and the sacralization of the place. In his approach Ludovic Coutinho tries to highlight, through his device, the existing tension between what aggresses and what protects, the inherent comings and goings between the sacred and the profane, the absurd and the everyday, the clumsiness and art.
