This is digitally hand-painted variation from one from a series of photo-montage studies exploring my response to iconic women, with Marilyn Monroe as a key protagonist. The setting for these famous images is an old oil paints box, with elements of the original photo cut and placed to form a new arrangement and association of the parts. In the reproduction, re-sizing, cutting and placement of these images, I aim to find a new harmony and meaning, focusing the observers attention on details they may not otherwise be aware of. I used Adobe Sketch to 'colourise' this version, using a soft brush and palette of complementary pinks. I've been developing the technique of painting photographs since 1986. See my website for more examples. The original full-scale version is printed to A1 size on archival quality Glycee art paper, supplied as a roll for framing of your choice. There are just two versions of this rendered image. Each in a limited edition of 5.
