NON-REALITIES II, 2020 Acrylic, gouache, tape, and ink on printed wax-coated rough 140gr/m2 book printing paper 30 x 30 cm | 11.8 x 11.8 in I created this artwork to be part of a mixed media installation, where two elements seek to capture reality in various dimensions, exploring the perception of time and space. Not only the time represented in the overlapping of photographs intertwined with geometric elements, but also the passage of time, present in the video projection on the acrylic sheet, which in turn activates yet another dimension, this time physical, with the introduction of a plane perpendicular to the surface defined by the three works on paper. The experiential interpretation of this installation aims to convey the idea that reality is a complex concept, not reduced to a single apprehension.

Alexandre Liberato is a Portuguese visual artist based in Berlin, whose work includes a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, photography and video. He holds a degree in Architecture from the Technical University of Lisbon, attended the 'CREART - Artistic and Creative Research Labs' Program in Barcelona, and participated in several workshops in Lisbon and Berlin that support his creative methodology and production. In his artistic practice, Alexandre explores the connection between the body and the mind, aiming to depict the beauty of the moment in which the body ceases to exist and becomes pure mind. Movement and performance are the fundamental elements to trigger this process of liberation, intuitively activating states of meditation that establish a profound experience of inner consciousness, of unity with a field of indivisible wholeness. In this introspective process, the body is insignificant but, at the same time, the reference. It is the beginning and the end of a trajectory that takes place in two opposite yet complementary directions, internal and external. In this process, the body accesses a dimension where time no longer applies, space is infinite, and where everything and nothing are of equal importance. In addition to the metaphysical and spiritual dimension, there is an emancipatory political intention present in the entire spectrum of his artworks. Alexandre uses few elements in the creation of his works, which are characterized by harmonious and elegant compositions, giving special attention to the materials and textures applied.
