Pop Art created using pieces of LATEX as a medium. Patrick John Martin Born Newbliss, Monaghan, Ireland to two very unique parents. Father: Traveled the world extensively as a civil engineer, an inventor, entrepreneur and company director. Mother: From a long line of artists one notably being her uncle Hugh Lofting, better known for his writings, of Doctor Dolittle. In Canada she was an Actress, Artist and TV producer for CBC and BBC. Patrick originally trained as a Sculptor creating woodland fantasy sculptures and a Model Maker recreating scale models of historical monuments for museums. Moved to London with fellow artist Lorraine and their two children where they opened an Art and Picture Framing shop. Having experienced life in London for some fifteen years with all its diverse cultures, scenes and life styles, have now returned home to quiet village life, ironically to explore some of those sub cultures through art, while at the same time renovating their very own 1850's Railway Station into a home and studio. Inspired by the world of Fetish Fashion. Fascinated with how latex moves, reflects light and how it accentuates the curves of the body. Patrick takes, that very same material used in the Latex Fashion industry to create art. Blurring the lines between latex fashion and art, by substituting the traditional paint and canvas with layers of latex to compose pictures depicting imagery that symbolises the sub culture world of fetish, be it high heels, nylon stockings, corsetry, a cat suit or a mask. Art to teases the imagination.
