This piece has grown from a mass of pixels, a photograph, which was formed when the camera lens was picking up light from the base of a scratched, stainless steel pan, used for cooking confiture of all sorts. The initial picture looked a bit like the effect one gets when petrol floats on the meniscus of water.
I cook, and as a result, much of my work is based on the effects of light on the various items and ingredients used.
After working on the initial image, I find that the end point is when one reaches something that looks as if it may “taste”, or may “seem” to be edible.
So the aim for me personally is to produce something “tasteful” in each meaning of the word.
