About The Artwork

Show Up and Get the Work Done, 2012 #chuckclose #chasealias #immersionism #endogenous Show Up and Get Work Done, 2012 From Chase Alias' Endogenous Series, 2010 - 2014 Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get the work done. If you wait around for clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you're not going to make an awful lot of work." -Chuck Close David S Pollack becomes Chuck Close with the help of some Method Acting skills he attempts to visually and conceptually reinterpret the words and idea of this conceptual artist using this very quote of Mr Close's, Information he has studied and even traits he picked when briefly meeting Chuck as an art dealer in Chelsea before Pollack decided to abandon his Art Dealer to pursue his life's goal to become a Conceptual Artist. David S Pollack aka Chase Alias hopes to bring to light with his new Endogenous Series how backwards moving our cultural standards have become. As an Immersionist he look back in envy at the freedoms which artists used to be able to express themselves without having to worry about cultural and even legal action being taken against them. Immersionism is a young art movement which combines Lewittian Conceptualism with Method Acting practices and principles. Stanislavsky and Strasberg Acting Methods which utilize sense memory and affective memory are an Immersionist's base. Lewittian Conceptualism adheres to the ideal that the medium is not the message, the idea becomes a machine that makes the art. Human beings are mimetic beings, feeling an urge to create texts (art) that reflect and represent reality. -Aristotle David S Pollack aka Chase Alias, Cubby, Holden Vance III and a few other characters Immersion Artist, Gonzo Journalist and Conceptual Artist Chase Alias, Cubby and Holden Vance are Immersion Art characters of Saatchi Art artist David Pollack. Immersionism is a form of gonzo journalism made famous by Hunter S Thompson in his works such as "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". Immersion Journalism or Immersionism is a style of journalism similar to gonzo journalism. In the style, journalists immerse themselves in a situation and with the people involved. The final product tends to focus on the experience, not the writer. David S Pollack is a Notable Figure in Immersion Journalism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immersionism David S Pollack, known by many names but most frequently Chase Alias and Cubby. Pollack sees his work as Immersion Art. The catalyst for his unique blend of gonzo journalism, method acting and new media art occurred out of personal tragedy. "Basehouse: a Meditation Play-place for Cubby" 2005 - 2010, was a response to his mothers untimely death. It is a unique social commentary on the world of illegal drugs and how societies propaganda and rhetoric is the true antagonist. "Who I M", series is an undercover examination of gay online hookups and introduces a unique method for presenting Immersion Journalism. Pollack uses actual instant message conversations and overlays them onto the images used in the conversations. He sees his works as a "Mimesis" or mimetic and uses social media and his many blogs to work out his unique art. His work is therefore presented in a New Media Photo-Journalistic Way using various social media outlet, blogs and Creative Commons. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immersionism I found that this series of works emerged from the unique natural layering of text and imagery that occurs when you begin to blog, tweet and Facebook your New Media. As you view them your titles and names and peoples comments begin to merge with the work creating a depth and breath to the original mimesis upon which the works are conceived. The very purpose of spirituality is self-discipline. Rather than criticizing others, we should evaluate and criticize ourselves. -Dalai Lama Wilton CT · theorizeart.com "I try to see myself as a sacrifice, just to show the kids they ain't the only ones who up at night.
