About The Artwork

This is a one of kind digital painting printed on aluminum. The invasive characters of food branding have invaded our world and our psyches. They follow us (Ronald McDonald, Little Debbie, The Burger King, The Jollibee) around our entire lives and we cannot help but love the memories of these non existent personalities. We played in McDonaldland as children and we gobbled down tons of Dolly Madison and Hostess cakes. We adore Mayor McCheese and Grimace and of course Little Debbie. But these leering entities inspire us to eat very questionable food choices. We love them but have come to realize that they are liars and that they do not espouse our best interests. They are robots without souls telling us to eat, drink and be merry. They do not love us; they make us ultimately very ill. The prey on us every day of our lives and they smile the entire time.

As an artist with autism my work is often a reflection of how I experience the world around me. I am sometimes overwhelmed by loud sounds, crowds of people, or the unfamiliarity of places that I've never been. It is the sensory equivalent of nails on a chalkboard but the sound never ceases; it keeps on reverberating and growing in intensity. In my paintings I use vibrant, extreme and excessive colors to craft images of a world that exists in a constant state of overkill. It is all a bit "too much" for the eye because I’m conveying what life is like for me on a daily basis. My artwork is deliberately over the top and exaggerated as my perception of reality is off times the same.
