Strategery Artwork

Stratego is a strategy board game where each player controls 40 pieces representing individual officer ranks in an army. Using calculated moves, bluffing, lying in wait, and guessing, opponents attempt to capture the enemies flag by removing pieces of lower rank. Stratego is from the French or Greek strategos for leader of an ancient Greek army. George Bush was the commander in chief of the forces that attacked Afghanistan and Iraq. I photographed an older Stratego game board and replaced the two lakes in the center of the terrain with President George Bush's eyes. The flag in the corner depicts the one that was selected to replace the traditional Iraqi national flag. Public opposition led to abandonment of a new flag.
