[ ‘Gyeol’ series ] The human face is a part of the body that can dominate the memory of others due to its unique visual image. In addition to its external characteristics, the face of someone we can think of must have a certain energy and aura projected from the inside. My work draws a motif in this context and pays attention to the appearance of the inner side (soul) hidden in a person's face. The line, which is reminiscent of contours, tree rings, or wrinkles shown in the drawing, is a visual language that leads to the subject of the work. Lines covered in the face, neck, or the front of the canvas are colored and reached through a labor-intensive process, such as using hot melt, repeated retouching plane work, and three-dimensional work of bending and joining a round rod by hand. Furthermore, the journey of "good," the thinking tool of my work, is also a journey of "self" that searches for someone's mental terrain by metaphorically expressing human psychological or emotional changes. I hope viewers will use their own imagination in the flow of organic lines to think of various faces and people. I hope that the "Sun," my thinking tool, will move the inside of the viewer, and that they will encounter the inside of others with slow breathing again. Thus, I hope my work will be a medium to connect me, the audience in the exhibition hall, and someone who comes to mind.
