Wall art painting, colored copper sheet with a blowtorch, glued on wood panel and epoxy-coated to protect the patina.

What is flame painting on copper?
It is a process of using a flame to create colors on copper with enough control to produce painting with intentional shapes, patterns, colors, composition and design.

The colors you see on copper are actually an oxidation that naturally forms on the surface of the copper.

Whenever the copper is heated (for example with an oxygen / propane flame), we actually add oxygen molecules to the surface of the copper, which forms an oxidation layer. The more we heat, the more the copper oxidizes and at the same time the molecular structure changes as it thickens, the variations and thickness of the oxidation will cause the variety in the colors you will see.
