Sergey Saigon, 55 years old, Cherepovets. The artist began his work 30 years ago as a designer (shop windows, store interior, etc.). For a long time he worked in photography, which had a significant impact on his creative methods. Currently, Saigon prefers Contemporary art, as the most promising and relevant art. Over the years he creates collages, posters, sculptures, objects and installations, compiling images in his aesthetics of pop art. His outstanding works are sometimes bizarre and provocative, but they appear from the surrounding “real life”. We mean not only real life of Saigon - the artist, but also ours. In his Contemporary art we find the combination of everything seen and heard, including TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, everyday life at home and on the street. So for the artist, everything can serve as a source of inspiration. And this “everything” is combined in unexpected compositions. Saigon often uses text and quotes in his works , it enhances the semantic load of the picture. The artist replicates the most successful images, which is common for the aesthetics of pop art, but replicates, transforming and adding something new. As, for example, in jazz, it is impossible to play the same music equally twice. The artist had a number of personal exhibitions, participated in various art projects in Russia and abroad. His works are in the City Museum, private collections in our country and abroad (Bucharest, Paris, London, New York). He entered the short list of nominees for the Kandinsky Prize 2007 at CSI "Vinzavod" Moscow (one of the most expensive and prestigious awards in Russia), and the shortlist of nominees for "You are an artist!"-award in 2008 at Museum ART4.RU Moscow Here you can find works from the project 'Stereotypes. Bang-bang'. The project is not violence propagation as it can seem at first sight. It is more like a cliche - the super-hero with a gun. Every image co-operates with citations and remarks, but already in the new context.
