the figures appear without the usual and concrete forms of adaptation. There is no cloths on the them, there is no sign of the individual character. The man lost his identity therefore he became variable and the world absorbs him. The body itself appears naked, without attributes, but its
antropomorphic forms remain. The bare body which in this case symbolizes the principle of existence, goes to pieces and becomes similar to its environment. It is almost an undefinable shadow.

"We experience the death and rebirth of painting at least once in every decade, therefore theories on them are not to be taken too seriously. In fact, the act of painting still remains the most direct and the most sensuous act of creating an image. Besides, manual craft is valued more and more in our digital world of the image. Edit Cservenka creates her figurative paintings by using tools of visual abstractions that originate from modernism’s “pure visuality”. By renewing the expressionist view her paintings reflect on the present crisis and insecurity of human identity with vivid colors and gestures. The dynamic freshness of the paintings and the openness to constant change derives from the co-present duality of the two planes: the abstract and the personal. Cohesive force then rises from the improvised, the seemingly not yet finished spontaneous character of the works. Besides the simultaneously evolving method of painting, the image deactivates the control of consciousness in order to intentionally review and constantly change it again. The insecure identity of our contemporary age is thus depicted by the temporary, clandestine, imitative, deceptive aspects of social mimicry."
