Nicolas Viorne is a contemporary painter living in the Paris suburbs. His works are distinguished by the bold use of colors and shapes. Born in 1980, trained at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d’Art in Paris, the artist explores deep and introspective themes through his paintings, often characterized by human silhouettes on the verge of abstraction and lights that create a unique emotional ambiance. Viorne freely uses acrylic painting techniques to create effects of light and texture, giving his works depth and emotional intensity. His style lies at the crossroads of abstract and figurative art, where human forms are recognizable but whose contours are subtly blurred and crossed by expressive colors. The texture of the paint and the deliberately visible brushstrokes add a tactile dimension to the work, evoking feelings of mystery and contemplation. The light seeming to emanate from the figure itself creates a luminous and almost supernatural effect. The pensive postures of the subject give an impression of dreaminess and inner reflection. The blurred contours convey a sense of fluidity, sensitive interaction with the environment, and transformation. His works are a visual and emotional journey, inviting the exploration of introspective themes through colorful and vibrant compositions. Each painting is an invitation to personal reflection, a window onto the serene other side of existence, beyond the torments of identity, gender, belonging.... Nicolas Viorne talks to us about his influences: "I remember wanderings through the Musée d'Orsay suddenly illuminated by a Van Gogh, sketching at the Musée Rodin and in the calm Richelieu wing of the Louvre, the hypnotic power of a Rothko at the Centre Pompidou. I felt a closeness to my artistic research within the art school and the lively sketches of Rembrandt, Rodin, Klimt, Goya, Matisse. What joy to approach works by Serrusier, Staël, Turner, Wou-ki! The unreal light of the monumental installations by Kapoor and Eliasson, savoring the dreaminess of Chagall and Redon, the audacity of a face barely sketched by Daumier, the freedom of Basquiat's and Lautrec's lines, the brightness of Haring's and Hockney's colors, etc… Their works convey silently and directly, from mind to mind."
