“The true work of art is born from the Artist: a mysterious, enigmatic, and mystical creation. It detaches itself from him, it acquires an autonomous life, becomes a personality, an independent subject, animated with a spiritual breath, the living subject of a real existence of being.” (Wassily Kandinsky)

"1001 Tales of the Arabian Nights" is one of my last paintings from my Circus Alchemy series. This painting, created in 2008, it's very dear to my heart and it feels like I poured myself into it but I decided it's the time to let it live with other people.
This series was like a self-portrait, about my history and experiences, but at the same time a beautiful and much fulfilled experiment.
This work, as many of my past works, was inspired by world mysteries and legends. How a very dear art critic, Pino Nicoletti, said, this series "suggests a duality between the abstract and figurative, between textures of mixed media and fine lines of drawing, between reality and fairy tale."

Artist Statement “Andrada's painting consists of delicate landscapes, soft, even velvety, often evanescent and seductive... mysterious. Sometimes you may see a glimpse of moving waters, transfigured unicorns, roaring sea, abstract profile of poplars, relics, tinted black colored tracks (which contrast with blue which intertwine), golden arabesque, mysterious trees in the dark of the night, landscapes constructed with lights and shadows, amber textures. All the pictorial elements exert a suggestive charm, especially in their infinite variations of grays and blues, which give a meaning to the dreamlike and evocative works. The colors here have a deep sound between transparency and diffuse light; they are at the dissolution of the matter, which turns into a fairy tale. It is a musical and lyrical image: these two realities actually proceed in parallel. It seems as the painting comes from darkness toward the light. For Andrada this is a tool for interpreting the world: we find a strong sense of balance and harmony within a matter charge of silences, expectations, sometimes lingering doubts. Although her technic is often abstract, there is always a close relationship with the outer and inner reality of the artist. In a sweet and sumptuous apocalypse of shapes and colors, the painting transports the viewer into a sphere located between dreams and awakenings, between reality and imaginary, between transcendent and immanent in a sort of permanent charm. The artist originally from Romania, lives and works in Canada where she received numerous exhibitions. Her works can be found in many private collections in Canada, United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Brazil and as well as Europe. “ (By Pino Nicoletti, art curator and art critic, Matera, Italy)
