ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In his painting the objectivity of the additive structures meets with the optical effects of unique colour compositions. In his earlier works the geometric forms of the concrete art collided with a direction of geometric abstraction, which focuses on the optical phenomena. His aim was to demonstrate the stained and harmonic encounter of different levels of reality. In 2014 he created experimental paper works based on the 80s visual culture, in which he found the geometric painting?s more free possibilities through folded papyrus models. It was of foremost importance that his results show transparency, that the individual forms can express themselves, furthermore that these forms within an artwork can build upon each other in a sequence. In his most recent Mosaic series, executed in the absence of preparatory drawings, he directly creates a unit of geometric forms on the canvas, which are becoming visible in an organic composition. In his artistic practice, which provides a rich colour experience, the painter gives an important role to the balanced position of the white colour. His motives connect in various forms, colours and tones, thus within one painting this creates a vast possibility for him to built different structures. Halmi?s new painterly language evokes constructive, unique dynamicity that is based on crystals, patterns, fractals produced by natural forces.
