ABOUT THE ARTWORK

As a scientist who spent significant amount of time in the past researching chaos and disorder to me this is one of the fundamental parts of our life. Everything around us is built of chaos and order, chaos and order are opposite but at the same time very similar. So through chaos you can see how world and life is organized. And as you can see there are different forms of disorder, so this series includes 2 paintings demonstrating that even disorder has its own character and life.

I came to art with background as a Doctor of Physics and mathematics with deep focus on studying of brain and neuron dynamic, electronic circuits and using different models to prototype the different physical processes of brain activity. Self-taught artist since 2013. I’m looking at emotions from two different points of view. The first one is emotions as emotions, i.e., visible, and invisible reflection of our feelings. The second one is mathematical and physical models that describes nerve oscillations, brain activity etc. My goal is to find specific triggers, specific elements like textures, images, fractals, and colors that would help people to recall their memories and create their own emotions. Our brain operates like a complex machine that accumulates a lot of information and it requires some external triggers to recall important moments, memories, emotions. In my view it works like a generator that gets external impulse and amplifies our capability to think differently and consider many things around from a different perspective. I’m mainly focusing on abstract and figurative art, but if you look at my artworks I’m not limited by style of technique or material, that’s why you will find combination of acrylic and oil, mixed art (acrylic stones, colored paper, plastic etc.). The reason for that is, as my paintings are about emotions – emotions are very different. You cannot describe emotions within one style. The first driver is emotion, and then emotion will define the style and material and form of the artwork. Therefore, depending on emotional context I’m using various techniques and materials to describe that.
