20070 Painting

Actions and movements transcribed in forms that dialogue in their rhythm and counterpoint of light in space. Light, gesture, pattern, and movement within the canvas reflect one expressive moment leading to the next. Through the meditative selection of forms and gestures, I strive to offer a visual equivalent to my statement. I see my painting as a form of visual storytelling, they are my non-linear autobiographies. My work is my version and response to what I have explored and experienced. I try to turn experiences into something tangible. I paint my relationships with particular places, deconstructing them into fragments of a memory. Each image is a portal to a conversation. I can read the questions, answers, reactions and tangents that emerge as each play unfolds. TECHNIQUE I paint on cotton canvas, I use different techniques and materials in the same work, acrylics, graphite, ink. The spontaneity of form suggests action painting, while the expression is meditative and contained in scale.
