About The Artwork
3 Figures Blue and Orange, evaluation by Eliza Yacheva. The author was inspired by the famous Pablo Picasso for this piece. This geometric artwork symbolizes a family of a nuclear family type which is a 20th century phenomena. The figures are abstractly elongated, standing as columns. They are the pillars of the pandemonium surrounding them. The paintings seems chaotic as if the figures are trapped in a miniature constricted space that is too tiny for them. The figures are standing on small pedestals with nowhere to step outside of. This adds a strong sense of standing over an abyss. The family members look trapped, and also caged with no existence available. Not only the figures are three, but also the predominant shapes in the background are triangular. There are four yellow and cyclamic pyraminds and one in turquoise which are depicted over the figures, adding more weight to the already fragile situation, furthering the family‘s difficulty.

Born 1960 It is a fact that truth cannot be found in appearance, the genetically adapted eye with its restrictions reveals only the particular. Truth, for me, is more likely to be gleaned within the subject; in the form of intuition. My paintings are therefore intuitive diagrams which I then compose into paintings. The rock tombs of St Patrick's, in Heysham, Lancashire, provided a template for my simplified outlines, which are used not only within the pictorial structure but also as potent symbols of being and its temporal constraints. For me, painting has to be as 'authentic' and 'real' as the expanding universe we find ourselves in.
