6 TON, 2001, 79 IN X 58 IN, OVERPAINTED PHOTOGRAPH Painting

I'm a German-American artist and was born in Germany. I like to make colorful abstract beautiful paintings and overpainted photographs. I'm looking for mystical unknown structures to emerge. It can't be just anything it must be something. I want it to be alive. I enjoy the works of Richter, Kline, Pollock and Rothko. If Pollock created the primal soup, I’m trying to extract living organisms from it. - I have a background in fashion design. I also have worked as a product designer and have created works of conceptual architecture. At the LA Biennial in 2001 I exhibited large format overpainted photographs of abstracted weathered artifacts. In an exhibit named 105.000 tons I symbolical summed up all the weight of the exhibit and thereby wanted to bring awareness to an increased tactility and dimensional weight. - “A manipulation of space and weight, that make this new series a breakthrough,” writes critic Bruce Helander. - “There is a perceptual shifting going on, says Peter Frank in his LA Weekly, “Art Pick of The Week review”.
