Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Enamel, Spray Paint on Canvas.

Part of an ongoing series exploring the unintentional(?) performance art of Colonel Sanders in a formal painting approach. This series is heavily influenced by abstract expressionists, hard edge painters, and many post 1960s approaches. In this particular piece, I started with a rehash of a De Kooning painting as the under-image (part of a 3 part diptych series - Motherwell and Pollock in those). I use the Colonel/abex painter more as a figurative starting point to then push the other elements of painting I enjoy exploring. Similar to how Pollock or Siqueros often started with a representational/figurative drip as his under-painting. The color palette is limited to what KFC has used over the years (white, black, red and blue).
