Horse racing! It just can’t leave you indifferent! Does not matter if you are there to appreciate the gracefulness and power of the animals, to feel the earth move beneath your feet when they run by, to gamble some money, or simply to have a nice day out at the race track… it is always exciting.

In the “Day at the Races” series, consisting of three painting (yellow, blue, and red) I also tries to show how a color may change your perception of the subject. You will understand what I mean when compare all three paintings.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Alexander Levich’s "A Day at the Races (Blue)" is an extraordinary oil painting that captures the thrill and energy of horse racing. This artwork, measuring 60x150 cm, presents a mesmerizing scene of four horses galloping towards the finish line. The use of blue tones creates a sense of ethereal movement and fluidity, drawing the viewer into the heart of the race. The figures of the jockeys and horses are blurred, adding to the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the scene. Levich’s mastery in capturing motion and emotion is evident in this piece. Each horse is depicted with a sense of power and grace, their forms blending seamlessly with the background to create a unified composition. The choice of blue not only adds a unique visual impact but also evokes feelings of calm and focus amidst the excitement of the race. This painting is part of a series, with red and yellow versions that explore how color influences perception and emotion. Inspired by the excitement and spectacle of horse racing, Levich creates a visual narrative that is both captivating and thought-provoking. His attention to detail and ability to convey motion make this piece a standout work of art. The painting’s elongated format enhances the sense of speed and movement, making it an ideal centerpiece for any modern space. What is the most important thing in life? It's not the external surroundings but our inner world. Painting serves as the key that unlocks this realm. By following this path, one learns not just to look, but to truly SEE. Through my art, I delve into profound content. Painting becomes a medium of communication, a canvas for thoughts. The questions are always deeper than the answers, and the answers are discoveries we make within ourselves. My paintings serve as guides, leading you along the pathways of your own thoughts. I aim to offer you the joy of connecting with your inner world, the luxury of harmony and solitude in communication with yourself. I was born in 1963 in Kyiv, Ukraine, and in 1987, I graduated from the painting faculty of the Kyiv Art Academy, under the guidance of Professor A.M. Lopukhov. Since 1990, I have been a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. As a professional artist with over 30 years of experience, my artistic journey can be divided into two main periods. The first period, which spanned over 20 years after my graduation, can be described as "Metarealism." The second period, which I refer to as my "return to realism," began around 2010, you may explore my artworks from both periods showcased here. If you would like to delve deeper into my portfolio, view additional paintings beyond those displayed on this website, or if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly via email at .
