'A Matter Of Attraction'..............Chiaroscuro Abstract Painting

For those who are a little familiar with my work, this piece is quite uncharacteristic with the employment of black, I hardly ever use it. I will never say that I would not use any colour for that case, depending on what I want to achieve with it and this has helped give some drama. My challenge here was to get that grainy look like in an old or monochromatic photo which I am more or less fascinated with. That harsh, seemingly organic look lends a sense of nostalgia and perhaps wistful feeling, a wanting sensation. The whole composition may seem quite simplistic, but at the same time it does make its own statement. For me and listing to the way I may think, it is more of an abstract piece and probably some will deem it somewhat realistic, but that is mostly perfunctory to my abstraction. I will also let you off for thinking it is a still life painting, which I did not intend it to be. All in all It has been another challenge that I enjoyed taking on and hope that I have achieved to some point. What you see here is a matter of attraction, as the painting is titled depending on what you want or wish to see. It is never the same for everyone, we are all different. That large sphere in the image could be to your liking, the allure to the calming and neutral colour. However, the smallest can become the conspicuous part of it all, getting all the glory. Between the two, I think there is a balance complimented through the foreground. Thank you for your attention. Zeal.
