This abstract artwork draws inspiration from a powerful biblical story of when Jesus' disciples were caught in a fierce storm while traveling by sea. As the waves threatened to overpower their boat, the disciples woke Jesus up from his sleep, and with a word, he silenced the storm. Through this artwork, I hope to convey the message of finding hope in times of darkness and feeling alone, by acknowledging the presence of someone greater who can bring calm to life's storms.

Kristin Edwards, a versatile native Texan, is motivated by a deep love for creativity, meaningful human connection, and a fundamental appreciation for beauty. Her journey and voice have been woven together through a diverse array of vocations and skill sets, spanning from journalism and college ministry to singing, motherhood, makeup artistry, and personal training. Amidst a period of transition, Kristin discovered painting as a new form of self-expression. As a self-taught abstract expressionist artist, Kristin draws inspiration from her faith, inner reflections and thoughts toward the future, and the beauty in nature and architectural design that surrounds her. She recently studied under Ty Nathan Clark’s Artist Mentorship Program, where she delved into the tapestry of both historical and contemporary artists, enriching her technique and expression, ultimately strengthening her unique voice. Kristin’s artistic journey has been highlighted by her participation at The Other Art Fair in Dallas, Texas. Her works have also been shown at Art Direct Gallery in Austin. She lives and works from her studio in Leander, Texas, with her husband, Phillip, and their two kids, Elle and Prescott, and their beloved dog, Charlie. Artist Statement: Art is a dynamic force, capable of reshaping the ambiance of any space. I believe that art possesses the unique ability to instigate moments of introspection, unearthing emotions that might otherwise go unnoticed. As an abstract artist, my work comes from a union of spontaneity and meditation. Meditation serves as both the catalyst and the medium for my artistic endeavors, resulting in a manifestation of joy. Engaging intimately with my work, I seek to forge connections with the world, crafting beauty as the ultimate offering. My paintings explore the concept of narrative: my personal chronicle, the grand tapestry of existence, and the current state of our world, as well as the life yet to come. Through instinctive yet purposeful mark-making, I am sculpting a distinctive identity onto each piece. Texture, for me, is a language through which I articulate the profound depths and currents of life. I frequently employ broad, sweeping brush strokes in my technique. On occasion, I even experiment with unconventional tools such as a broom or the cap of a paint tube.
