About The Artwork
The Plymouth Sound breakwater was commission in 1812 by Lord Palmerston to deter seaborne attacks by primarily the French on the important Plymouth naval dockyard at Devonport. An iconic feature in the mouth of Plymouth Sound. Painted Plein Air from the old herring shed along Kingsand shoreline. A piece of history worth committing to paint in an impressionistic style. Oil on canvas panel is my preferred medium and surface. Hope you like it. I enjoyed painting it.
