At present we are daily saturated with problems and situations to be solved, in a constant search to get ahead, we end up forgetting to live in the moment, and never give us at least a few minutes to relax and be happy. With this series I seek to captivate the viewer and bring him closer to his inner being. The pieces evoke portals in which we can enter and forget about the problems or situations that may worry us. I hope this paintings can help the viewer to be more in the present and realize that no matter what, we can make our lives more peaceful and happy.

Since he was a child, Celis sees death as a part of life, and it is those death related experiences that keep him in a constant search to find the balance between peace and restlessness. This personal search is transformed into art pieces that oscillate between tranquility and anxiety, calm and concern; pieces that lead the spectator to delve into them and get closer to their own introspection. Guillermo Celis is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist. Painting and installations currently characterize his form of expression. He carries out an introspective creative process and his work is strongly linked to what is happening around him. It is the experiences of his surroundings that, directly or indirectly, influence him and guide him to make a connection to explore the imbalances of life, which in turn re-signify a person’s stability. He has participated in a variety of group exhibitions and international fairs, having as well a couple of solo exhibitions. Today, his work is part of private collections in Brussels, BE, Madrid, ES, Mexico City, MX and other parts of the world. In most of his work, he uses only straight lines to create the composition of his pieces. On the other hand, his paintings are abstract creations inspired in past experiences, historical events and the search of a present mental and physical state. Within his creative processes, he uses numerical sequences which can vary and change according to the piece. Chinese ink, watercolor and acrylic are some of the materials that he commonly uses to create his paintings. It is important for Guillermo Celis to continually learn and grow, both personally and artistically. This has allowed him to stay open to new experiences that guide him into finding different ways of looking at life. Among his goals and objectives are, on the one hand, to create large-scale pieces that become a part of collections of different museums to be able to impact the life of a greater number of spectators. This in turn, influences his second objective: creating a foundation to support art and education.
