Art Description

Painting: Oil, Paint on Canvas.

News that the painting Salvator Mundi (“The Savior of the World”) by Leonardo da Vinci had been sold at the end of last year for $450 million ignited a series of paintings with references to da Vinci’s original work. In it I explores, both comically and seriously, the idea of a savior in our very much troubled times. We live on an increasingly polluted and overcrowded planet, we selfishly take from the earth’s resources without concern for those who will inherit it after we are long since passed. The Earth is just a tiny grain of sand in the vastness of the Universe, but it’s still our only refuge. Who saves us today? Do we need salvation?

Our brief moment in the universe.

An endless source of inspiration for me are my three sons, who all appear in the aforementioned series.
