Marian Czura was born in Poland where he studied psycholigy, philosophy and theology in Nysa, Opole and Warsaw. After emigrating to Germany he studied painting at the Städel in Frankfurt (Main) and the Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten. He's created a lot of paintings, and made many films (as DoP and/or director), including documentaries, e.g. Krautsand (in cooperation with the WAF [Westallgäuer Filmproduktion]), Land der Räuber und Gendarmen, Daheim sterben die Leut', Schön war die Zeit, and Leni, as well as in the last years Beutekameraden. His latest documentaries include "He danced life" and "Timbre of the Soul". Marian Czura has been lecturer at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie in Berlin, the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach (Main) and is currently head of the directing course at the IFFMA, Munich. He lives in Darmstadt, paints, makes movies and writes.
