Painting a nude model is an intimate and fragile process. I connect with someone's body and personality. That intense contact between model and painter is what drives me. A person's posture, body and behavior is sometimes merely pretense. I prefer to talk to my model. The tension on the surface disappears. In this way, I try to look beyond daily reality. I truly watch. Without facades.The way in. To what the model really tells me and how I can give that shape and color. In this process, a painting transforms slowly from a quick sketch to an almost abstract expressionist work. I know exactly when I have exposed enough, but also when I covered enough. Then the work is finished.
